What Does a Retail Manager Do?

Automotive Service Managers, Store Managers, and Assistant Store Managers at Flynn's Tire & Auto Service lead daily operations, support their teams, and ensure customers receive high-quality service and care.

Lead and supervise service department staff and daily store operations
Review inspections and present service recommendations and estimates to customers
Oversee parts ordering and inventory management
Ensure high-quality service, workmanship, and customer experience
Drive sales, revenue, and store performance goals
Hire, train, coach, and develop team members
Manage expenses and support overall store profitability

Requirements for Retail Management Positions

From Assistant Manager to Store Manager, each role builds on the last with greater leadership, responsibility, and impact.

Assistant Manager

Supports daily store operations under the direction of the Store Manager
Assists with customer service, team support, and operational execution
Basic knowledge of tire products and automotive services
Supports sales, service, and operational goals
Assists with inventory, scheduling, and daily workflow
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
Valid driver's license, acceptable MVR, and pre-employment screening required
Supports leadership team and store initiatives

Service Manager

Leads the service department and oversees daily service operations
Reviews inspections, creates estimates, presents recommendations, and supports customers throughout the service process
Strong understanding of automotive services, repair recommendations, and service department operations
Achieves service sales objectives while ensuring quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction
Manages parts inventory and secures parts needed for repairs
Strong customer service, communication, and service advisor skills
Drives service processes, work quality, and department efficiency
Valid driver's license, acceptable MVR, and pre-employment screening required
Supervises service department personnel and supports overall store operations

Store Manager

Leads and manages all store operations and team performance
Develops and executes business growth, sales, and performance plans
Extensive knowledge of tire products, automotive services, and overall shop operations
Accountable for store sales, profitability, and overall performance goals
Oversees inventory, expenses, staffing, and overall business performance
Advanced leadership, communication, and team management skills
Responsible for store performance in a high-volume operational environment
Valid driver's license, acceptable MVR, and pre-employment screening required
Hires, trains, coaches, and develops the entire store team
